Topic: Distance Learning ITQ Posted: 24 Jul 2009 at 12:24am |
|
Hello all,
I've just come across an advertisement for a provider that is delivering the ITQ through distance learning.
I'm just wondering what peoples' views on this are - can the ITQ be completed entirely through distance learning or will there always be a need to visit and observe the learner at work?
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,
sorry for the late reply. The 'old' ITQ had only the mandatory unit to be assessed, the others could have been 'simulated' (e.g. task driven). In that case, there should have been someone popping in for the unit 1. The new ITQ is different with no mandatory unit and no assessing necessary. Ideal for distance learning.

Hi Mick,
Just checked the iTQ standards on the OCR website, and maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it's still showing the mandatory unit - somewhat confused.

Hi Matt,
don't be! ITQ is now under the QCF heading on the OCR website. The link is as follows: http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/type/qcf/ict_tec/itq/index.html.

Hi Mick,
Many thanks for the info. I was referring to the iTQ NVQ - this is a different qualification, but very interesting nonetheless.
Thanks again,
Matt

Matt,
actually it is not, the ITQ NVQ is going to expire and the QCF ITQ is its replacement.

Hi Mick,
I realise this replaces the existing NVQ ITQ, however they are effectively different qualifications.
Also, at the time I wrote the original post I was referring to the NVQ ITQ.
Thanks again,
Matt
